Ive watched the matrix a few times now and once again last night. (yeah was bored) But the strange thing is, Ive always been part of the digital era but more on the hardware side and recently the programming and software, I understand everything you explain in your review. All this is true! But you fail to realise the human race has already given birth to AI and the year in the Matrix is 1999 and the real year is 2199 or sumthing like that. Now Neo himself is a programmer a good one as depicted in the movie when he sells a programme to the guy accomponied by the chick with the white rabbit. Throughout the movie Neo remembers and can relate to alot of things like characters and places in the 'real world' he can even tell whos right from wrong. Being dubbed as a messiah by those who believe.
The Matrix is a programme written by Neo himself. Thats why he is seen as a messiah by the people in the real world. He was not much in the matrix as he lived in a crummy little apartment and worked in a little cubilcle. He had nobody and he was a nobody. But as soon as he was offered the red and blue pill the film shows an image of Neo in Morpheous glasses and already shows that he goes for the red pill. which means he is tired or done with the world he lives in. He is ready to move into a world where people see him as a 'God' of some sort.

In Reloaded,the material of the coat is what they call screen wool. It is hand made wool and it is light. The inner part of the coat was a material of Rylon and silk. I dont know how much the material goes for. In case anyone has noticed,Abbyshot updated their Neo coat and I must say it is the most accurate replica Ive seen. It is costly. I made my own by buying a cheap knock off from Hott Topic. Their new version isnt too bad but needs modifying. I replaced all the buttons on it with smaller ones and covered them with the material that was left after heming it. Ofcourse put slits in it all the way down for the new buttons on it. I then cut where it was stitched up the middle and on the two sides to take it on the waist to give it that authentic look. That was it! I now got one that looks just like the one in the movie. Have a good one.

The trenchcoats from the Matrix 1 & 2 are custom made or fabricated...meaning you'll never see them on a rack somewhere. If you want one the same, Simply see a taylor who deals in trenchcoats, by the way I do not think Neo's was Leather in #2...Probably Wool Mesh. In any event I do know of one London Based Co. that has a Replica you can buy, the material?...comparab le, the Design?...the same (copied of course) and the look?...no different to the eye. Although they are quite expensive in the neighborhood of $600-$1500 depending. Good Luck.

whenever i search for matrix apparel i always end up finding cheat remakes from the wrong fabrics that bare no resemblance to the matrix movie. I have a pretty close copy of Morpheus' leather coat from the first film, which I bought in a charity shop for £10.
As for neo's coat, I can't remember how many different ones the costumes lady said she made, of slighty varying shapes and materials depending on the scene.
I.e. wool felt coat for billowing bullet-time shots, nylon for shots in the rain, etc.
My point is that where was no 'one' coat. Don't be so darn picky.
Btw, If I do nothing else with my life, I'm getting a pair of those motorcowboy.com boots :)

I have also figured out that trinity's coat is a spinoff of the butterick 6844 pattern. To make her costume though, requires a lot of decorative stitching, and the front ends of the coat need to be modified so it has a zipper, not buttons. I am in the process of making a costume, and so far, it is coming out great

I have figured out Neo's coat from Matrix 2. If anyone is really handy with a sewing machine, they can make Butterick pattern 6844. It looks exactly like Neo's coat, all that needs to be custom is a horizontal pleat at the waist, easily made by tucking the fabric up and sewing it into place. I have made a copy that looks exactly like the one from the movie. A good light cotton twill fabric works great for the blowing effect.

OK #1 Any Good Tailor can whip you up a quality copy of the heavy canvas trench from the NEW movie. But heres the kicker !! Jet Lee wore this Style coat/shirt in most of his old movies in light "satin" like cotton or rayon. I've had tailors whipping em up in Maroon Black /White Royal Blue tight sleeve -- open sleeve blah blah for years.
Now a movie does it in heavy cotton and the world freaks out. The designer is Kym Barrett but she admits its from an old monsatic chinese style. SO there you go Grasshoppers, knock yourselves out. I love the other guys coment duckin pellet gun shot ha hah ha hagreat one.

I know exactly what most of you guys have been going htrought to find those damn Airwailk Boots that Neo Wore in the matrix. OK The boots as you all know the manufacture. Talked with Kym who was the costume designer over two yrs. ago and the boots were a one time off. Airwalk will make a similar version but not nearly at the cost of the orginals. The origanls are in the Warner Bros. archives. Try Harley store at Universal City Walk. If they still have any they look indentical to Keano's except for the height. Good luck..

A very different, but much better movie as far as falsified reality is concerned... is "Open Your Eyes". Of course it's not nearly so FAST.
But it's more than show. And I can think of no other movie that covers--and with quality--so many genres.
I mean it changes... a lot.
First its a social drama.
Then phantom of the opera.
Then an Alfred Hitchcock mystery.
Then a psychological thriller.
Finally a metaphysical bender.
Wow! Those last 20 minutes are the best any film can hope for.
Just be patient--there's no action ya know--Enjoy.
