MOST RECENT YAK ABOUT THIS ARTICLE:

Subj: Dr. terrorizing wife
I saw this movie in the late 80's or early 90's where this woman is married to a successful Dr. but when she is sick (like puking in the toilet) he would take pictures of her or he would put things around to scare her, like spiders and then take the pictures of her reactions. When she has her baby and realizes he's not the man she thought he was, he terrorizes her and stalks her and tells her what he will do to her and how he could make her suffer for a long time, because he was a Dr. and knew all the places on the body and all. Really creepy. Can somebody tell me what show that was? I don't know it it was a TV movie or a movie that ended up on TV eventually. Thanks

The Island (1980)
Director: Michael Ritchie
Starring: Michael Caine, David Warner

Few actors have made more movies, good and bad, than Michael Caine. Fortunately, The Island (from a novel by Jaws's Peter Benchley) is good. Caine plays an investigative reporter and divorced father in New York who spends a weekend researching a Bermuda Triangle story and takes his bored prep-school son along. On a fishing trip, he and his son are attacked by two poachers posing as shipwreck victims, and Caine gets knocked out after killing one of them. He awakes in another world--strapped to a tree on a desolate Caribbean island at night and surrounded by modern-day pirates who look and act as if nothing has changed since the 17th century. Because of his surname, Maynard, which apparently is that of the man who killed Blackbeard, Caine's life is spared and he is turned into a sex surrogate so he can pass on his noble genes. His son, after being brainwashed, is taken in by Warner to be his eventual successor. The movie is fascinating in its portrayal of the buccaneers, who nail their roles (down to missing teeth and pigtails) so well that I found myself rooting for them at points. The Island was timed perfectly with the ascent of Adam Ant.

Times Square (1980)
Director: Alan Moyle
Starring: Tim Curry, Robin Johnson, Trini Alvarado

I haven't seen Times Square in years and believe it is not available on video. This was what happened to Tim Curry after Rocky Horror and while his solo albums weren't doing so well (despite his minor hit, "I Do the Rock.") Curry starred here as an elusive New York City DJ, spinning all the groovy New Wave sounds from his studio high over Times Square. Two disaffected suburban fans played by Trini Alvarado and Robin Johnson, key in on the music and run away to New York, specifically Times Square, which at the turn of the 80's wasn't quite the Disneyland experience it is now. This is basically a punk rock movie made after punk had died, but just in time for faux New Wave and the 80's. I recall the soundtrack being pretty good, too, with many originals from the time and "Damn Dog" by star Robin Johnson, who sounded a lot like Joan Jett. It's a frightening and strange thing now to walk around New York City and still see kids dressed like this--like seeing kids dressed as 50's greasers in the 70's. It's over!

Foxes (1980)
Director: Adrian Lyne
Starring: Jodie Foster, Scott Baio, Cherie Currie, Randy Quaid, Sally Kellerman

This movie is rancid in a fun sort of way. Jodie Foster plays Jeanie, a young girl being raised in the San Fernando Valley by her single mother, doing what Jodie always does: acting intelligent while everyone else goes nuts. In this case, everyone else means Scott Baio (taking a break from his role as Chachi on "Happy Days"), who actually isn't so bad as a wayward skate punk. (I'll never understand skatepunks thinking they're rebels. This shit was around in the 70's, not to mention in the early 60's when Jan and Dean started the craze with their hit "Sidewalk Surfing.") Kudos to Cheri Currie, ex-Runaway (an all-girl punk band she was in with Joan Jett and Lita Ford) for playing Jeanie's totally wasted friend--and having the appropriate floppy-Farrah 70's hair-do and too much mascara. The scene stealer though: a live concert appearance by faded 70's KISS wanna-be's and fellow Casablanca recording artists Angel! Man, did those guys rock or what?

The Stunt Man (1980)
Director: Richard Rush
Starring: Steve Railsback, Peter O'Toole, Barbara Hershey

After playing Charles Manson in the mini-series "Helter Skelter" a little too convincingly, Steve Railsback was having a hard time finding work. As The Stunt Man starts, Railsback still has that Manson look as an escaped con who accidentally flees onto a movie set, run by Peter O'Toole, where he saves what he thinks is an old woman from drowning, but she's really the movie-within-a-movie's star, Barbara Hershey. That sense of not knowing what is real is the movie's theme as O'Toole takes Railsback in as a stunt man for his movie, a World War II epic. There are many opportunities for O'Toole to emote, and Railsback plays his role with a natural intensity that works surprisingly well as humor (especially the scene where he describes to Hershey how he ended up in prison, which involved murdering his wife's lover with a vat of ice cream). Great theme song by Dusty Springfield.

My Bodyguard (1980)
Director: Tony Bill
Starring: Chris Makepeace, Adam Baldwin, Matt Dillon

My Bodyguard was a sleeper hit at the time, a quiet, unassuming movie that spoke many worthwhile truths about the difficulties of being a sane, peace-loving kid in the shit-ass world of high-school bullies. Chris Makepeace stars as Clifford, the nerdy new kid whose father (Martin Mull) moves to Chicago to manage a swank hotel, where they live. On his first day at school, Clifford immediately encounters a ring of bullies, led by Moody, played perfectly by, you guessed it, the teenaged Matt Dillon. Moody and his gang get off on extortion and intimidation, and set about humiliating Clifford when he resists them. Not sure what to do, Clifford pays a forlorn, hulking classmate, Linderman (played by Adam Baldwin), who scares all the other kids to death because he's rumored to have killed his younger brother, to be his bodyguard. The two become friends and later face a serious challenge when Moody buys the services of an evil bald-headed thug. A nice, little movie. The only thing left on the odd-looking Makepeace's plate was starring opposite Bill Murray in the incredible Meatballs. And watch out for a gawky, teenage Joan Cusack in braces and a near-Afro white-girl perm.

Cruising (1980)
Director: William Friedkin
Starring: Al Pacino, Paul Sorvino, Karen Allen

Looking for Mr. Goodbar, starring Diane Keaton, Richard Gere and Tom Berenger, paved the way for dark-themed disco movies. Unfortunately, disco was so popular at the time that not many filmmakers dared take this route (Thank God It's Friday is a good example of the polar opposite), lest they be saddled with a critically-acclaimed bomb. This is exactly what Cruising was, starring Al Pacino as a cop who goes undercover in New York's Greenwich Village gay community to track down a serial killer. The film is noteworthy more for the subculture it delved into than the rote action-flick plot. Plenty of guys decked out in leather pants and spunky black caps and vests with no shirt, looking much like Freddie Mercury in his leather phase, in ways that now seem quaint, but were more shocking at the time. Al Pacino meets his contractual obligations in this one and loses his cool in a very bad way, although the best example of this in his entire career is the court-room climax of And Justice for All.

Roadie (1980)
Director: Alan Rudolph
Starring: Meat Loaf, Blondie, Alice Cooper, Don Cornelius

Roadie is the story of a rock-band roadie, Travis Redfish (played by Meat Loaf), trying to meet his idol, the rapidly falling-out-of-touch Alice Cooper, and the adventures he encounters in doing so. It's a bad rock movie, but it gave Meat Loaf a chance to revive his failing career after he told creative collaborator Jim Steinman to fuck off and thus plunged himself into the netherworld of hammy 80's rock. The movie is notable for roping in Blondie at the height of their popularity, which they surely regretted when the movie flopped, as well it should have. Also notable is the dynamite soundtrack, including the excellent Cheap Trick one-off, "Everything Works If You Let It".

Inside Moves (1980)
Director: Richard Donner
Starring: John Savage, David Morse, Diana Scarwid

Coasting on the respect rightfully granted him by The Deer Hunter, John Savage got the lead role here as Rory, a man who attempts suicide by jumping from a building at movie's start. He doesn't succeed and ends up with a bad limp, living on relief in a welfare hotel. One day he walks into a near-by dive bar called Max's and finds himself a group of new friends, all older men with various physical infirmities. The bartender, Jerry, is an aspiring basketball player who will go nowhere without a knee operation. Inside Moves is about damaged people finding self respect in their lives, and it works on this level, despite some desperately trite moments. Savage, unfortunately, never got any roles at this level again, and his awkward sincerity deserved better. Not sure if this is available on video.

Four Friends (1981)
Director: Arthur Penn
Starring: Craig Wasson, Jodi Thelen, Jim Metzler, Michael Huddleston

Four Friends is about an immigrant's son, played by Craig Wasson, coming of age in a small, working-class, mid-Western town in the 60s. He wants to be a poet, and his Yugoslavian father wants him to wake up and recognize he's going to have to work for a living. As Wasson makes his troubled way through the 60's, the only constant is the wild woman in the group of friends, played by Jodi Thelen, who broke his teenage heart but still serves as his muse, even when he nearly gets married to someone else and she loses her way in the speed-crazed, Warholian world of late-60's Manhattan. This is an under-rated gem from the same screenwriter (Steve Tesich) who wrote Breaking Away. Wasson was hot property at the time, starring in The Boys in Company C, Ghost Story and Body Double, but his star seemed to fade quickly, which is sad as he's a genuinely likeable presence in any of his films.

Knightriders (1981)
Director: George Romero
Starring: Ed Harris, Tom Savini, Gary Lahti

Ed Harris stars as Billy, the iconoclastic leader of a band of quasi-medieval merrymakers who travel the country, hosting motorcycle jousting festivals that draw other bikers and hillbilly types (look for Stephen King in a funny cameo). The movie nicely got across the feel of an entirely self-contained and bizarre subculture, and had cross-references to how circuses or touring rock bands must deal with the problems of the road. Of special note is long-time horror hero Tom Savini expertly playing the villainous motor-knight who eventually finds his heart. Last time I saw Tom, he was shooting barroom thugs with his penile sub-machine gun in From Dusk Til Dawn.

Quest for Fire (1981)
Director:Jean-Jacques Annaud
Starring: Rae Dawn Chong, Ron Perlman, Everett McGill

Quest for Fire is one of those movies that inspires the oft-used and dumbest line critics will ever come up with: it's a "realistic portrayal." How in the hell would anyone know this--the movie takes place 80,000 years ago! Usually that shit line is reserved for war or inner-city movies, but everyone was ga-ga'ing it after seeing Quest for Fire. I got news for you--it was a fucking bore. A tribe's fire goes out. No one knows how to re-start it. A few of the tribe (including Ron Perlman--uncannily recognizable through his make-up) go out to find some more fire. They do so, and kidnap Rae Dawn Chong, who ends up inventing something more important than fire--the blow job--when she tries to sooth one of the tribe's penile boo-boo's. The movie looked good--I'll say that much. But it was a hard go for over an hour, no matter what snoot critics tell you.

Get Crazy (1983)
Director: Allan Arkush
Starring: Daniel Stern, Ed Begley, Jr., Allan Goorwitz

A fairly mediocre movie, Get Crazy has since been recognized as a neat time capsule of how rock venues operated in the 70's, with Daniel Stern as a stage manager preparing for a New Year's Eve show that may be the venue's last. The movie simply outlines how it comes together, and the various bands scheduled to play making their way to the climactic concert, where the evil concert promoter played by Ed Begley, Jr. is finally thwarted. Lots of interesting star turns in this one, especially Lou Reed as a Dylan-like icon. But overall, it's a hard watch these days, as most of the humor is of the campy late-70's teen flick variety and the music is equally dated. Of special note is Fear's Lee Ving as a crazed punk rocker who must be chained to a stairwell before being let onstage. Funniest moment: Bill Henderson as a Muddy Waters-like blues singer losing his band at showtime, and substituting a band of Hasidic Jews in their place, to wild applause from the audience. Also keep an eye out for the ever-so-hot Stacey Nelkin, who starred in other early 80's tripe like Up the Academy and Halloween 3: Season of the Witch.

Mr. and/or Ms. Chrisl, you are most likely thinking of the 1970 TV movie "Crowhaven Farm", which traumatized many an impressionable child back in the day.

I am being slowly driven to distraction (and wasting a lot of time) trying to figure out the name of a film I saw as a (too) small child, probably very early 70's. Don't remember much except that it left the impression of satanic or cult activity. Definitely remember a scene at the end where someone is buried alive or crushed under a pile of rocks or similar. Probably was something similar in tone to Wicker Man, or possibly Rosemary's Baby. Does it ring a bell?

-- Mar 4, 2009 at 12:33AM
Your description sounds a lot like this period teen comedy, but it's from the Eighties:

Mischief (1985)
From IMDb:
Nerdy Jonathan (Doug McKeon) pines for beautiful, popular Marilyn (Kelly Preston aka Mrs. John Travolta), but she has never looked at him twice. Then, motorcycle-riding Gene Harbrough (Chris Nash) comes along and teaches Jonathan some lessons in cool and how to get the girl. Gene himself crashes into Bunny (Catherine Mary Stewart). Will Gene get the girl of his dreams, and will Jonathan ever get a chance to score?

All the Kind Strangers (1974 TV movie)
From IMDb:
A couple traveling through a backwoods area are held by a a group of orphans who want them to become their parents. Unfortunately, the kids have a habit of killing adults who refuse that particular honor.
Cast: Stacy Keach, Samantha Eggar, John Savage, Robby Benson

I saw this when it aired twice way back when but always remembered it, especially John Savage as the big brother. Gosh! He was so beautiful!

The House That Screamed (1969)
From IMDb:
Mme. Fourneau (Lili Palmer) operates a school for wayward girls in France. Her absolute discipline has fostered a social order among the girls that encroaches on forbidden territory. Mme. Fourneau has an adolescent son (John Moulder-Brown) whom she tries to keep isolated from the girls lest he be "tainted". She explains that he must wait for a girl "just like his mother". Meanwhile, girls are "running away" (being murdered) one by one, with their corpses and any evidence of their outcome not to be found.

Also known as "La Residencia", the movie runs 99 minutes, but TV showings generally shear 20 minutes or more from that.

Subject: Hank's movie
-- Mar 3, 2009 at 11:54PM
Hank was looking for this film, one I also looked for then found:
It is a thriller that starts off with a scene where a swimmer in a pool is pulled underwater by someone else in the pool and has their leg handcuffed to the ladder, leaving them unable to rise above the water.

That is a scene that I recalled, along with others seeking this elusive movie. Here it is, from the days of "The Kirlian Witness", "Patrick" and other fascinating but largely forgotten films.

The Clairvoyant (1982)
starring Perry King, Elizabeth Kemp, Kenneth McMillan, Joe Morton
From IMDb:
After the body of murdered woman is found, nude and handcuffed, floating in the Hudson River in New York, a string of murders occur by an unseen serial killer who kills men by handcuffing them before killing them. Mac, a TV talk-show host, and Larry, a police detective, team up to try to find the killer and seek help from Virna, a clairvoyant artist who draws visions of the murders before they happen. As Mac and Larry try to establish a connection between the victims and the first female victim, who may have been sexually involved with all of the male victims, Virna's further visions begin to point to her as the next victim as she unknowingly closes in on the killer's identity.

This likely is your movie:
Tourist Trap (1979)
starring Chuck Connors (who seems like such a nice guy at first), Jocelyn Jones (the girl driving away at the end, her mind snapped), Tanya Roberts, Keith McDermott
From IMDb:
Teenagers encounter a shut-in psychopath with telekinetic powers. He proceeds to use these powers to slay them one by one as well as to animate the various mannequins he uses to keep himself company.

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (1973 TV movie)
From IMDb:
Sally (Kim Darby) and her husband, Alex (Jim Hutton), move into Sally's family home, a spooky two-story Victorian mansion. When they start redecorating, Sally comes across a locked room. After arguing with the handyman (William Demarest), who insists she should leave the room locked, she finally gets the key. But once she opens the old study and has bricks from the fireplace removed, strange things begin to happen and she sees small creatures that no one else does. IMDb synopsis:
A social worker (Anjanette Comer) investigates the strange Wadsworth family. They might not seem too unusual to hear about them at first: a mother (Ruth Roman), her two grown daughters (Marianna Hill and Susanne Zenor), and the diaper-clad, bottle-sucking baby. The problem is, the baby (David Manzy aka Mooney) is 21 years old!

The twist is that her supposedly dead husband is still alive but sustained brain damage. The man-baby becomes his new playmate~absolutely a surprise twist!

He had it setup to be semi portable in a panel van he would drive to where he was looking for bad guys to fight, then go in the back and get sealed into the suit.

About Times Square: you've got it all wrong. It's about an out of control girl who's homeless (and never identified as to where she came from) who hooks up with the rich, uptight daughter of a city official of NY running for Mayor, so they are hardly suburban. They escape a hospital together, and spend months running from the authorities and finding themselves while living in the heart of the city. Only the spirit and music really identifies the film as punk..

Bad Ronald - (made for TV) About a disturbed kid who secretly lives in a hidden room of a house after another family moves in and he spies on them.

Savages - (made for TV) Starred Andy Griffeth who hunts a young boy across the desert.

ZPG Zero Population Growth - A dystopian sci-fi about an overpopulated world where it is illegal to have children.

The Shout - (Alan Bates, John Hurt) About a man who has the power to kill with a mystical shout.

I don't believe any of these are available on DVD.

Still having trouble remembering an 80's movie. Plot was about a modern day lawman, Texas Ranger maybe, who was sucked back into the old west. There was a decaying villian on the other side who terrorized a town and it's inhabitants. Two things I do remember about the movie was the villian hit one of the women and said" spare the rod spoil the bitch" or something equally nasty. And the villan couldn't be killed by modern bullets the hero had to melt old pennies to make his own bullets. Thanks in advance for any help

Ok, right off the bat....it is NOT Red Room Riddle or Child of Glass...but, very similar in feel. I think it was intended for tweens....may have been an ABC Weekend Special or something. Main character is a young'ish boy....all I really remember is the end. He finds a secret door or passage...leads to a secret room beneath the 'haunted house'. In the secret room he finds the skeleton of a man and lots of money. The man died because of his lantern (carbon-monoxide poisoning). The boy gets trapped and 'might die also'. He is found by men on the outside of the house who dig him out. He solved the 'mystery' by finding the money and the skeleton. Very Goonies'esque....tho ugh pre-dates The Goonies. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Someone told me about this movie that was made in the 1980's it's seems pretty violent. And I hate violent films but it still interested me.

The movie is set in the future. And how the story goes, is it's set in small city, The people that live there never leave because the world outside is to dangerous. And every night before everyone goes to sleep they type in a dream onto their computer and the dream weaver (or dream police) collects those dreams and they come true the next day. And this girl who is the daughter off one off those people who makes people dreams and desires come true. One day types in that she is sick of living in this fake reality and wants to experience the real world.

The story goes on to her getting her wish, and she finds out has horrible the world is. After seeing people kill each other in the real world. This film was either called Dream weaver, twisted, or warped, I typed in all names to google, wikipedia, and the inernet movie database, And got nothing so maybe not. But I also tryed other things to help find this film and got nothing.

BTW... The film ends though with her waking up back in the city, And realising it was all a dream. And finding out her dad Gave her that dream to show her how lucky she was. And then gives her the choice off weather she wants to take his job or not.

30 years and still trying... I seen it on tv back in late 70s.I remember only a couple of scenes.1st being a woman sitting in a room with a bunch of people(i think everyone may have been elderly)as they tormented her by dangeling a pair of baby shoes in front of the fireplace. She sat there screaming and crying as the group then throws the shoes into the fire.Thay may have then began walking towards her as if to kill her when the scene blacks out(ends). The other scene is so vague its more like an image.I see a long table with a birthday cake all set up for a party. The entire table(maybe the whole room)is covered in cobwebs. No people in this image.
It may not even be a movie, but perhaps an episode from chiller theatre or something like that. Any input would be appreciated.Thanks.

Please don’t think me perverted for asking this, after all there are plenty of other slightly naughty things being asked about on this board. Anyhow I’ll give some details about what I’m asking for. When I was very young boy growing up in Australia, I recall watching an American TV show or Telemovie during an afternoon in the late 1970’s. What caught my attention was a scene in which a young women or teenage girl was having a party at her house to celebrate her birthday. During proceedings a bunch of thugs’ gate crashed the party and assaulted the young lady. One of the thugs said “SO THIS IS THE PARTY GIRL AH” and then proceeded to rip the clothes she was wearing. Just as things were getting hot an old man (possibly her father or grandfather) comes down stairs with a gun and threatened the thugs until they left. Unfortunately, not long after that my mother turned it off and I never saw anymore of that show. For years now I’ve wondered what that TV show/Movie was, does it at all sound familiar to anyone and do they know what this 1970’s show/movie it could have been?

Long before the TV series there was a Tales From the Crypt movie made in 1972. It was composed of five different stories told to a Crypt Keeper who looked more like a wizard to me than the comic book character.

name of a movie? I think it had different stories (like twilight zone) - I remember the devil leading people down to hell, another part of the movie had a guy running through a hallway filled with razorblades embedded in the walls only to have his own german shepherds attack (and presumably eat him) when he made it to the end. This movie has haunted me for 33 years! Name???

I barely remember it, but its a 70 or 80s movie. The son eats his snake eggs or something and turns into an alien or monster. At some other point in the movie he sucks on (I think his sisters) stomach and gives the alien in him to her. I remember this seen showing green pulsating bumps on her stomach as he gives it to her..Anybody have an idea. Thanks.

I once rented a movie, sometime in the early 80's about a weird family that could transform themselves so that their body parts could be rearranged. There was also something about an almost cannibalistic ritual that was associated with their daughter's coming of age party where the whole family took some young man into a pit and began massaging him and even licking him until his body became extremely pliable and then one of them said "Shunt him...shunt the bastard" and then there was a scene where the young man was literally turned inside out. This was not porn but definitely one of the weirdest (therefore greatest) movies I ever saw. I'd love it if someone could let me know the name of it

Horror. A swampish-creature mutant-son who lives in the walls and basement of and around this old-old house in the middle of nowhere. A hero and a girlfriend. Hero shoots from the outside through the walls of this house with a shotgun or a rifle, trying to kill the creature. An older woman gets attacked in her kitchen leaving floor steeped in about a half inch of blood. Hero investigates and gets knocked out from behind with a frying pan. Hero falls to floor lying on the side of his face with blood almost up to his nose.Used to think the name of the movie was "What Lurks in the Dark." but using that turned up no leads. Hello All. I'm hoping that someone out here can help me. I have 2 films I remember really vaguely. The first is a cartoon, possibly a late 70's early 80's Anime. It's set in space and for some reason a kid gets abandoned on a weird planet. He befriends some weird 4 legged dino creature that shows him what food to eat. They go to a cave and the creature is caught by some vines and they scoop him up into the rafters of the cave and eat it. It was very scary. That's all I remember about that one.
The other was a live action film around the same era about a boy that wants to know what causes the bubbles to appear in this lake in the town he lives in. He enlists the help of his friend and an old diving suit and goes to investigate. He dissapears while under the water. The town pump the lake of water and they find the kid was trapped in an air pocket in some old digger type machinery.
If anyone can give me the titles to either film you will end years of scouring the internet for obscure films no one else on this planet has heard of.

Anyone remember an early 70s scarry movie about a haunted room over a garage? All I remember is that it's a rich gated house in the country and a huge detached garage. A late teens/20's-something woman/man gets hired to tend to the house and is warned never to go into this boarded-up room. Then the person starts seeing a figure in the window behind the old curtains and starts investigating. Spooky stuff starts happening. I vaguely remember the outcome being that it was a psycho family member that was supposedly dead but was being hidden due to some scandal. There were some B-list actors in it, but I can't remember who. I thought it was "The Room over the Garage" but no hits turn up in IMDB... I literally watched this movie through a keyhole at my gandma's house when I was supposed to be sleeping... Thanks!

Ok I saw this movie when I was a little kid. I wanna say it was an 80's movie but i could be mistaken. Essentially though it had this guy that drove a sports car and he would race these other guy. He would pull really really far ahead of the other guy, then stop the car and turn it sideways. When the other racer would come up on him they would crash and explode and the car that was sideways was unscathed. I remember the end of the movie one of the main guys thought he could crash his car into the sideways car and kill the driver but he ended up dying instead. The closing scene is showing smoking car parts and his body laying on the ground. If someone has any idea whas im talking about Id love to know the name of this movie. Thank you

Trying to find a movie that came out on regular cable... the reason I say this is because I think I remember seeing it where it was late at night with my sis and cousin and well I remember I had chances to get food, use bathroom etc due to the commercials... I've been unsuccessful finding the movie or the title... I just remember that the movie was about kids being infected in some way and it turned the person or child into a zombie. Every time one would get infected you can tell by the finger nails... One particular memory is at the end of the movie... a baby is born and well the baby is suckling milk and the spooky song comes on and it shows the baby having green/blue nails against the mother's bosoms... I would love it if someone knows the title of this movie... I would like to watch it again since it left such an impression on me... this movie came out in the mid 80s.... or I saw it around then...

OK, it was in the early 70's they showed us this movie at school. 2 little kids, running from ppl trying to kill them, they all had some sort of tatoo on their inner wrist, that's how the kids knew these ppl were bad. All I can remember was an old lady falling from a cliff, and the smaller girl in a barn with a man holding a scythe at her neck, she reaches up and drags his wig off, and it's her uncle. That's all I remember. I can't find a complete plot to Flight of the Doves, so I don't know if that's the same movie.

I have been trying to remember the name of a movie I saw when I was a young girl. I thought the movie was Who's afreaid of the dark. The movie had a woman that was being terrorized by these small little creatures that were released when she and her husband opened the ash door in the basement. They attacked with straight razors, and other weird stuff. I think in the end they were dragging her to the chimney. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey Tommy, great minds must think alike because I just remembered this movie and am wondering what the name of it is as well. If you recall, the victim in the bathtub has her brain transplanted into the woman in the car crash, so she gets all these bizarre memories and so forth. This guy WM (William Mason or something) knows what's going on and pursues this new woman (with his old victim's brain) to kill her. She remembers the tattoo but the guy keeps it covered; her husband or boyfriend figures out what it is just in time to go to the Golden Gate bridge and stop him from killing this woman who can testify against him. The brain transplant made it rather hokey but I recall it being pretty good otherwise, and that XX/WM tattoo plot point always stuck with me.

I remember that the killer had a tattoo of either 2 x's or WM on his wrist. there's a scene where he drops a radio into a tub while a woman is taking a bath. i believe in the beginning some guy jumps off the roof of a hospital and lands on this lady's windshield while she is at a red light. killer is also tryingto push a woman off a cliff and you can see the golden gate bridge in the background. i used to watch it all of the time when i was a kid. it was on hbo lots of times in the 80's. can anyone tell me what this movie is? thank you so much.

As a prank, the Guardsmen fire some blank rounds at Cajuns living in the bayou. The Cajuns think that they are actually being fired upon, and shoot back. At the end of the movie they regroup and, are patrolling through the woods. Suddenly the otherr group pops out of the ground and shoots the other group and the movie ends. Hi everyone, first movie is one that I see someone else asked on (Cristi in June), but I do not see a response to it. The movie with the blonde girl that was in a plane crash, lost in the jungle, following the river trail, she ends up having worms in her back, if I recall the movie USUALLY runs around Christmas time. The second movie is a bit trickier because I don't recall much at all of it. About the time I saw DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK (I must have been in horror mode) as a kid I also recall pieces of a movie that there are I believe young kids that are stranded for one reason or another and a "family" takes them in. One by one each of the young travelers ends up missing. The "family" portrays themselves as loving, wholesome, sit together at dinner, etc. But apparently the family is kiling them off to eat them. The "meat" at the table is one of the missing. At the end one of the young traveling couples ends up taking over the role as the "family" and continues on with hacking up lost people for dinner. BTW, DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK scared the crap out of me as a kid. I wish it was available on DVD. Thank you in advance to any and all that have ideas of what these two titles are! Have a great day!

I'm looking for a movie that came out in the late 70's early 80's. It's kind of like West Story and any other typical dance movie out there. Two sides of the tracks rich/snotty kids and the bad kids. There is a girl in the movie that has some sort of sickness. I can't remember if she had a heart problem. She sticks out in my mind as a Blonde or dirty blonde 5'6 or 5'7 dancer type body. Her brother is on the Rich kids side an she wants to dance again but b/c she is sick she's told not too. Well there is a dance contest at the end of the movie. During the movie she meets the bad kids and joins their team to compete with them. They practice in a junk yard, at the beach, cars sale store and at a studio. If anyone remembers the movie it would put my mind to ease. Completely driving me crazy. Thanks

Hi~
Looking for early-mid 1970's TV movie where a European Blond Teenager (maybe Swedish or German) is the only one who survives a big plane crash. She survives since her buckled plane seat lands in a tree and breaks her fall. She writes the word HELP with a twig in mud on paper & hangs it on a tree just in case someone finds her or the plane. While trying to find her way out of the jungle she keeps having flashbacks of having fun with her friends at the Disco. She finally finds someone who helps her take worms out of her back since flies have laid larvae in her back. This is all I remember from last seeing it at
9 years old----------- ~Next movie is mid 70's where a family buys a nice huge house but the last owners tells them no matter what you do- DO NOT OPEN up this small door down in the basement. The lady of the house decides to do some cleaning, curiousity gets the better of her and she opens up the door where these tiny monkey guys come out and kill. Anyone know the names of these movies or where to buy? These movies were on every year so hopefully someone will know the names. Thank You! : )

I remember there was a family and an old grandma or aunt or something. This has been nagging at me for years, so any help would be great.

okay I remember this movie back when i was younger. Its either an 70's movie or an 80's movie. What i remember is the ending. The actor was a well known actor, almost looks like lorne greene from bonanza but wasn't him. He was about the same size anyway. Well he was on a boat and they tried to kill him by freezing him and he ends up chewing his bubble gum and it somehow is able to break through the boat while its sinking and next thing you know its floating. The bubble gum color was yellow. I remember that. I also think he wasn' the only was who was being saved.

If I want pre-pubescent, actually pubescent, I guess, Michael J. Fox, I'll go for CLASS OF 84, in which a teenaged, chubby-faced fox, playing a good kids, gets knifed by an evil gang of high-school bad boys. Perry King was in this, too, I think, playing the good guy teacher who faces down the gang.

But it was nice seeing Michael J. Fox getting knifed ...

Midnight Madness was not on a train -- though it did feature a barely pubescent Michael J. Fox. It's an idiotic movie, but strangely enjoyable -- and involved 4 or so teams of youngsters running around town trying to find clues. They all wore sweatshirts with primary colors on them. And they went to a planetarium, a carnival and a brewery.

One choice moment I remember was a lot of old people sitting around the nerve center of the scavenger hunt, watching the kids over serveillance cameras. They were really excited and had lines like, "This is so much fun! Isn't this fun?" and even at a young age I felt like this was the filmmaker trying to convince the audience not to get up and leave.

What I do remember from your list:

- Was Midnight Madness on a train? It it was, I vaguely remember it.

- Eating Raoul is a lost classic -- don't even know if it's made it to DVD, but it should.

-- Up the Academy was one of those early 80s Animal House knock-offs -- I recall the dark-haired girl with great tits from Get Crazy being in it, I think. Or was that Up the Creek?

- Don't remember the J.M. Vincent title, but I do remember the movie. He was running on empty by this point. Interesting to note how his career paralleled Kurt Russel's, both of them starting as teenagers in Disney flicks (Russel: The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes; Vincent: Jungle Boy). Think J.M. got a little too far into the 70s, but I still highly recommend tracking down a copy of Big Wednesday -- great-looking surfing movie, and not a bad story either.

How about "Up The Academy" (a group of kids get sent to military school, and rebel against their CO)? Then there's one (not sure of the name) where Jan Michael Vincent rallies the residents of a Lower East Side New York neighborhood to take back their streets from a vicious street gang. There's a ton more but that's all I can think of right now.

In the end the Vans were owned by a children’s camp. These vans were so cool I have to see this movie again.

In response to "Josher", I remember "Almost Summer" very fondly and have tried unsuccessfully to get a copy of it. At one time I had taped it from a late night network showing (which was the last time I ever saw it broadcast), but I have managed to lose the tape. As for John Friedrich, I have been very curious as to what ever happened to him. According to an interview with actor Joe Pantoliano, John became doctor, more specifically a surgeon. I would really like to know what the story is.

Does anyone remember a horror movie from the 70's about a long-lost female "cousin" who comes to live with her aunt/uncle and their daughter, but it turns out this "cousin" is really some sort of evil presence? I remember in one scene, the daughter has a horse and participates in horse shows, and at one point this "cousin" does something that causes the horse to freak out & injure itself, resulting in it having to be shot. In the end, the daughter fights the "cousin" and somehow wins, forcing her out of the family (my memory is fuzzy on the details), which leads the viewer to believe that's the end of the "cousin". That is, until the final scene shows the "cousin" knocking on the door of someone else's house, again posing as a long-lost relative. Any help would be very much appreciated!! Kessie

I'd like that -- I'm afraid I can't dub you anything in return, but I appreciate the gesture. Feel free to email your address to jordan@leisuresuit.n et, or even post it here if you like, and I'll respond.

Karen Black topless. Well worth seeing. I just saw her in something else recently -- a pre-Billy Jack/down-with-the-p igs flick about a college basketball star with a radical friend who must make some HARD DECISIONS regarding his portending basketball career, at the expense of the revolution, man. Karen Black played his love interest/snooty English professor's wife. And Bruce Dern was the basketball coach. Can't recall it -- but it would make a great "basketball&quo t; theme night with Robby Benson's One on One.

It came out in 1971 - 72. Probably actually filmed earlier, it has a nice cheapy look. Can I get you a dub? Let me know how to contact you to make that happen, if you are interested.

LaLaLand, Cisco Pike sounds like a real winner -- I'm surprised I missed it. If it's Kristofferson's first movie, we're talking late 60s/early 70s. Karen Black topless? Wavy Gravy as himself? Lava Lamp on Doug Sahm's desk? All that's missing is Don Knotts as a talking fish.

I'd like to recommend a great 70s cult movie. It's called Cisco Pike and stars Kris Kristofferson and Gene Hackman. Not many people have heard of it. It is about a crooked cop (Hackman) who steals 100 Kilos of Primo weed during a bust and makes Kristoferson (in his first movie)sell it for him. He has to sell all 100 keys and make Hackman 10 grand in one weekend or Hackman will set him up to get busted majorly on some pending drug case he has. His girlfriend is played by Karen Black (brief but visually satisfying topless scene), Antonio Fargas plays a pimp, Woodstock's own Wavy Gravy plays a head trying to avoid getting busted while buying keys from Kris, Harry Dean Stanton plays an impotent drug abuser, Kris receives oral favors from Warhol film star Viva and gets naked with a 60s porn star with the name of Joy Bang. Lava Lamp is seen on Doug Sahm's desk. If you like early Kristoferson music, you might like this. Has chep production values, resembles "Billy Jack" in that regard. Fun stuff, hard to find movie. 1971-72.

Kahuna, I've picked up Times Square myself recently. God, what a piece of shit! This is Robert Stigwood (executive producer) trying to do for new wave what he made Saturday Night Fever do for disco. Sleaze sister, voodoo, indeed. I will say Robin Johnson is excellent as the human equivalent of a barking dog, but the whole faux/Rebel Without a Cause routine is just laughably bad. Why is it that when I see movies like this now, I relate far more to the "evil" parents than the idiot kids lashing out at them for no clear reason? And I can see why this one put Tim Curry on the back-burner -- his pat little speech where he lectures the rich father about parenting is just insanely awful, the kind of thing where if I'd have been the father, I would have strangled him to death with his mike chord. That would have made for a better movie -- once respectable Times Square real estate developer goes on murder spree in hopes of killing his daughter and her new vaguely lesbian accomplice.

Kahuna, I'm not sure Times Square is out on video -- it is out on DVD, though. I've just ordered a used copy of the video from Half.com, though. As for the soundtrack, in a store down in Greenwich Village that specializes in soundtracks, I saw a used vinyl copy of the two-album set. Frankly, 80% of the album was simply early 80s hits ... BUT I'd love to get a copy of the great Joan Jett-sounding song Damn Dog.

Just to let you know. "Times Square" is FINALLY out in video and DVD. Now if we can only get a CD of the soundtrack released....Long live Robert Stigwood!!!

Exactly, Mr. Levy -- missed on purpose. Main reason: it was defnitely a cult movie to start with but has since become its own cultural phenomenon. In other words, it's just too damn big -- hell, even VH-1 did a special on it, lo, these 25-odd years after its release.

Now, one I missed, and not on purpose, was it's fairly awful follow-up, Shock Treatment. I found that in a used bin, thought "oh boy, what a catch," and felt very let down afterwards.

In part I you you write "There will be plenty of movies I have missed (some on purpose)"

I was just wondering wether The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) was missed by accident or on purpose?

Argot, Quest for Fire would have made an excellent movie for the Mystery Science Theater 2000 gang to send-up. Actually, it's ironic that Rae Dawn Chong was in it -- it felt a lot like a slightly more sober Cheech and Chong movie. (And let's not forget another great prehistoric flick a few years later -- Caveman, starring Ringo Starr, Barbara Bach and former Oakland Raiders lineman John Matuzak.)

Quest for Fire is a little too much like Saturday night in Queens for my liking. I'm living Quest for Fire!

I always get Adam Baldwin and Vincet D'Ornifo (sp?) mixed up. I'll bet My Bodyguard had a deep impact on you. I'd also bet you were a shy kid with an enormous head who took crap from teenage creeps Matt Dillon played a little too believably.

Hear hear! Finally some flicks I've seen. Some comments:

The Island: read the book, now I'll have to see the movie.

Knightriders: this film had me weeping monster tears as a kid. Fantastic, forgotten flick!

Quest for Fire: Hey, I think this movie's great! It's about cavemen! What could be so freakin' bad???

Good work on installment 4. I'm amazed at how many movies you've included in this series that I've seen on video shelves for years, but never quite known what the hell they were.

Two things. Had a film teacher that made us watch Quest For Fire. It is indeed a struggle, to say the least.

Also, I interviewed Adam Baldwin a couple years ago, for some firefighting TV movie he was in (and he mentioned a forthcoming movie called Independence Day that he had a small role in), but I couldn't get over the fact that I was talking to THE Linderman. Very important film in my upbringing. Thanks for its inclusion.
